Arrow Guide to the State Juvenile Justice Profiles, written by Melanie King of the National Center for Juvenile Justice, was posted online. Other Technical Assistance Special Project Bulletins are available here.

April 2006
Arrow Staff completed the fourth round of updates. During this update, staff fleshed out previous topic areas and verified the accuracy of each profile by analyzing state statutes, contacting state juvenile justice practitioners, and reviewing documents and web sites. In addition, new highlights were added to describe activities of graduated sanctions demonstration sites, The National Overviews were updated by September 2004.

Arrow The National Center for Juvenile Justice is developing a national directory of alternative children and youth programs for all 50 states. Although the effort is in its infancy, users can search the online directory for programs at www.lingledirectory.org.

April 2004
Arrow In the spring of 2004, staff started to update and expand the content of the state profiles. We completed this round of updates in August 2004. During this update, staff fleshed out previous topic areas. No new topic areas were added. The National Overviews were updated by September 2004.

Trying and Sentencing Juveniles as Adults: An Analysis of State Transfer and Blended Sentencing Laws, written by Patrick Griffin of the National Center for Juvenile Justice, was posted online.

Arrow Updated the National Overviews to reflect the most recent round of updates. This does not include the National Overviews in the Trying Juveniles as Adults section - this section was updated separately in August 2003.

Arrow Updated each state's upper age, lower age, and extended age of juvenile court jurisdiction to reflect the 2002 legislative session.

Arrow In the spring of 2002, staff started to update and expand the content of the state profiles. We completed this round of updates in February 2003.

During this update, staff fleshed out previous topic areas while adding brand new areas. After this round of updates was completed, each state profile covered the following topics in greater depth: delinquency intake screening; predisposition investigation; probation supervision; and juvenile probation officer qualifications, certification, and training.

In addition, we added new topics to the state profiles, including recent changes to the organization and administration of services; victim rights and services; direct placement without commitment; and legal resources.
