Juvenile Offenders and Victims: 1996 Update on Violence

Publication year: 1996  |  Cataloged on: Dec 18, 2018

OJJDP funded the National Center for Juvenile Justice (NCJJ) to produce this 1996 Update on Violence to their landmark Juvenile Offenders and Victims: A National Report. The NCJJ research team has updated selected parts of the National Report, including most of those sections using data from the FBI on violent juvenile arrests, and juvenile homicides. These updates present the most recent data (1994) released from the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting Program and their Supplementary Homicide Reports. In addition, results from several new studies are summarized, including a national survey regarding school crime and a recent Government Accounting Office study of juvenile transfers to criminal court. Readers are encouraged to use this 1996 Update as an addendum to the National Report.
