Preparing for a Managed Care Environment

Publication year: 1998  |  Cataloged on: May 05, 2011

Pennsylvania's Juvenile Advisory Committee has formed a Managed Care Subcommittee. The Subcommittee is examining the effects of Medicaid managed care on youths in the juvenile justice system, especially the impact of HealthChoices, Pennsylvania's mandatory managed care program for medical assistance recipients. They are also looking at applying a managed care model to the delivery of juvenile justice services. They are concerned about preserving the judge and court's authority to order specific treatment and to determine the length of treatment in a managed care environment.
