Probation supervision was the most severe disposition in 36 percent of all delinquency cases. The number of cases placed on probation increased 29 percent between 1985 and 2009. Person offense cases accounted for 24 percent of all delinquency cases in 2008. The 2008 person offense caseload was 119 percent greater than in 1985.
