This is a summary of recommendations resulting from a report prepared for the Supreme Court of Ohio. The Family Court Feasibility Study was an in-depth examination of court proceedings in a wide range of family matters over which a 'family court' may assume jurisdiction. Family matters herein are defined as legal proceedings involving delinquency, dependency, divorce and dissolution, child custody, visitation, child support, adoption, guardianship and domestic violence.

This study was intended to provide information on the consequences of the juvenile justice system on the individuals it is intended to serve, by comparing the outcomes of judicial proceedings across states. This study examined the outcomes of judicial proceedings of 16 and 17 year olds in New York and Pennsylvania in order to understand the impact of jurisdictional age on the operation of the system.
